Welcome to this week’s Friday 5! The Friday 5 is hosted by scrivener from www.f.riday5.com. Each week we gather to answer five questions about a topic. Come join the fun!

This week’s topic: Inventions

  1. If they could invent a remote control for something in your house that doesn’t have one, what would you wish it to be?
  2. What could your car really use that they just hasn’t invented yet?
  3. Who among your friends could probably be a great inventor if he or she had enough funding to do it?
  4. What invention seems to do its job in a less-satisfying manner than the old-fashioned way?
  5. Lately, vending machines have gone beyond drinks and snacks: you can rent DVDs from them or even purchase iPods from them. What’s something your life could be improved by if it were available in vending machines?

My answers:

  1. I wish they would invent a remote for the heater. You could turn it up and down and on an off without having to leave the room.
  2. My car could use a heated steering wheel. They have heated seats. Why not steering wheels?
  3. I think Kathy could be a great inventor if she had a need for something.
  4. I would rather use a handheld can opener than use an electric one.
  5. Over-the-counter medicines such as Tylenol, Advil, cough drops, etc.

This week’s topic is: Closing

1. What business establishment’s recent closing was the most disappointing for you?

The local Curves closing was very disappointing for me. It was a great place for women to work-out with being harassed by others.

2. At what place of business or service are you most likely to be the day’s last customer out the door?

I would have to go with Bath & Body Works. I could stay in there for hours smelling the different scents and trying to decide what to buy.

3. What place of business or service seems to be closed at times inconvenient to you?

I could name quite a few. I live in a small town where it seems if everything closes at dark.

4. Where in the real world (not online) will you most likely spend your last 2011 money?

Wherever we decide to go on New Year‘s Eve.

5. What business or service has been the biggest blessing to you because it is always open?

Wal-Mart and the Exxon station. You never know when you’ll have to run out in the middle of the night.

This week’s topic is: Awards.

The Golden Globe nominations were announced this week. Although these questions are irrelevant to the matter, we thought we would have some fun with them.

1. What wins your award for Best Supporting Household Appliance?

The winner for Best Supporting Household Appliance would have to be the blender. It can make a great pina colada or whip up a strawberry smoothie in no time.

2. What wins your award for Outstanding Performance by Something that Comes in a Bottle or Can?

Outstanding Performance by Something that Comes in a Bottle or Can would have to go to Dr. Pepper. (What did you think I was going to say? :) )

3. Who wins your award for Excellence in Poor Timing?

The award for Excellence in Poor Timing goes to my manager. She schedules meetings with a day’s notice not to mention she’s very hard to get ahold of..

4. What wins your award for Wardrobe Newcomer of the Year?

Wardrobe Newcomer of the year is awarded to no one. I’m not that big on trends.

5. What wins your award for Outstanding Achievement in Stealing Time?

The computer is definitely the winner of the Outstanding Achievement in Stealing Time. I can be on it for hours without even realizing it.

(bonus question!) The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences calls its trophy the Oscar. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences calls its trophy the Grammy. What do you call yours?

The Charismas.
