My teaser…Size 12 is Not Fat by Meg Cabot

“I’m telling you he tried to kill me!. Why don’t you believe me?” I hear myself cry, before I can shut my mouth. “Can’t you see that I’m not a stupid little teen pop star anymore, and that I might just know what I’m talking about?”

My teaser…Dead Peasants by Larry D. Thompson

Jack walked to stand in front of the witness. “So, the fact of the matter is that Allison is not making payments from net income from his business because he doesn’t have such income. Those payments are coming from proceeds on life insurance on the lives of his former employees, correct, Mr. Quillen?”

Joslyn, comfortably ensconced in her own marriage and family life, grinned at both of them. Happy people could be downright insufferable, Kendra reflected, especially when they were trying to make a point. “There was a time,” she reminded them, “when I couldn’t stand Slade Barlow. And look how that turned out.

My teaser…The Firm by John Grisham

Mitch and Abby walked aimlessly along the edge of the water in the general direction of Georgetown, away from the spot where the girl had been. He thought of her occasionally, and of the photographs. He had decided she was a pro and had been paid by DeVasher to seduce and conquer him in front of the hidden cameras. He did not expect to see her this time.

My teaser…The Firm by John Grisham

An hour earlier, Kay Quin had left the kids with the baby nurse and the maid and met Abby for brunch at the Peabody. She was a small-town girl, much like Abby. She had married Lamar after college and lived in Nashville for three years while he studied law at Vanderbilt. Lamar made so much money she quit work and had two babies in fourteen  months. How that she had retired and finished her childbearing, she spent most of her time with the garden club and the heart fund and the country club and the PTA and the church. Despite the money and the affluence, she was modest and unpretentious, and apparently determined to stay that way regardless of her husband’s success. Abby found a friend.

This week’s topic is…Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

1. Write more reviews. I’m very bad about reading a book and then not reviewing it. I want to do more reviews this year.

2. Write reviews within 1 week of reading a book. This goes along with the #1.  When I finish a book, I move on to the next one and before long I’ve read a bunch of books but have no reviews.

3. Complete my goal of reading at least 50 books this year. I started small and will move up as necessary.

4. Complete my reading challenges. I’ve decided to participate in several reading challenges this year to make things more fun and to keep me on track.

5. Attend some author signings, book festivals, etc. I was all set to go to the WV Book Festival last year but ended up having to work at the last minute. I was very bummed but plan on making arrangements this year early so I can attend these types of functions.

6. Work on my networking and relationships. I’ve been bad about not replying to comments or reading posts but not making any comments. I want to work on this and set aside a time to comment on other blogs and a time to reply to comments made on my blog.

7. Join or start a book club. I’ve been wanting to do this for some time now but have been afraid to do so. I will check out the one at my local library first and if it’s not what I want, hopefully I can get enough people interested in starting one.

8. Do more guest posts and author interviews. I want to get to know authors better so I think this would be a great way to do it.

9. Start writing some discussion posts. I’ve been reading some of my favorite blogs lately and I’ve really enjoyed the discussion posts. I think this would make a nice new addition to my blog and get people talking.

10. Start writing some personal posts. I know these types of posts aren’t for everyone but I really enjoy getting to know people outside of blogging. To me, it makes the experience more personal.

My teaser…This Christmas by Jane Green, Jennifer Coburn and Liz Ireland

I should be with my family, Eddie thinks, as he looks through the window. And as he stands there missing Sarah, Walker and Maggie, he realizes how insane it is that he has let so much slip away. Not just by being in Chicago, but by refusing to pin Sarah down to talk about their future, and by all the missed opportunities: by not being the husband and father he could have been.

3. Linda Lael Miller – Miller melts your heart with her multiple series of cowboy romances.

My teaser…Big Sky Country by Linda Lael Miller

You can stick it all where the sun never shines, old man, Slade thought angrily. He’d never expected to-or wanted-to inherit a damn thing from John Camody-bad enough that he’d gotten the bastard’s looks, his dark hair, lean and muscular build, and blue eyes-and it galled him that Maggie, his mother’s friend, would be a party to wasting his time like this.

My teaser…Deceived by Stephanie Nelson

The blonde sitting across from him didn’t seem to notice he wasn’t listening to a word she said. Lowering my gaze, I headed towards an empty booth by the window. Since our “field trip” I hadn’t seen him and wasn’t sure how to be around him. The tension between us confused and scared me.

He leaned down slowly, his lips just hovering above my forehead, and softly pressed his lips against my skin. I momentarily closed my eyes at his touch but quickly regained my composure and pushed him out the door. “Night, Aiden,” I called over my shoulder as the door slammed shut. I could hear his amused laughter as I walked back to the office.

My teaser…Bitter in the Mouth by Monique Truong

The truth about my family was that we disappointed one another. When I heard the work “disappoint,” I tasted toast, slightly burned. But when I saw the word written, I thought of it first and foremost as the combining or the collapsing together of the words “disappear” and “point,” as in how something in us ceased to exist the moment someone let us down.
