Book Blog Attraction

Musing Mondays is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading.

This week’s musing, courtesy of http://readbookswritepoetry.blogspot.in, asks:

What attracts you to a book blog? What puts you off in a book blog? Do you share personal stuff on your book blog?

Why, the books of course! :)

In all seriousness though, it’s a number of things. I’m a visual person so blog design is biggie with me. In keeping with visual, I also really like those who do vlogs. I think it makes it more personal because I can actually see and hear from the person behind the writing. I also like those that do things besides reviews. Don’t get me wrong, I love the reviews, but if that’s all there is, I find myself skipping over it at times because the books don’t always appeal to me.

As for turn offs, like I said, pure reviews will find me skipping it over from time to time. I also don’t like those that hardly ever post. I know life happens and I’m not expecting daily posts, but if it’s been a month since the last post, I will most likely unsubscribe. I also don’t like those that post a bazillion times a day. I follow several blogs and it’s very time-consuming to keep up with everything. Therefore, if you post 10+ times daily, you’ve lost a follower.

As for personal posts, I actually quite like them. It’s a peek at what they’re like outside of the blogosphere. It makes me feel like I know the person better.

It’s All About Me

The Virginia welcome sign at the Virginia welc...

Thanks for joining me for Saturday Six hosted by Patrick from www.patrickphillips.com. Each week six different questions are asked and we blog our answers. Join me in the fun!

This week’s questions are:

1. What’s the best part about where you live?

2. What can we do about so-called Christians who really aren’t? At least, they don’t look like they’ve ever read the Gospels. At least, not the Gospels you and I seem to have read.

3. Where did you grow up?

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

5. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go?

6. What made you decide to start your blog? An inspiration, a need to empty your head, a complaint of something, or something entirely different?

My answers:

1. I live in a rural area in a small town. The best part about that is I have privacy and I don’t have a store in my backdoor. My neighbors are close but not so close that I can reach out my window and into their’s.

2. I feel as though we can do our best to encourage them but it’s really up to them what they choose to believe and how they act accordingly. I’m not going to push myself upon them as I wouldn’t want someone doing that to me.

3. A small town in Virginia.

4. All kinds of things. I like to hang out with family and friends, read, walk, blog, listen to music, watch tv and movies, shop and the list goes on and on.

5. Oh gosh. I don’t know if I can pick just one. I’ve always wanted to go to Australia. I think it would be a great place to visit.

6. I originally started a business blog about my Avon business. I then came across a place where you could get free books, all you had to do was do a blog review. I realized I didn’t have a place to do this so I started my personal blog. It’s a way for me to voice my opinion and just vent sometimes.

Blogger Burnout, Winter Wardrobes and More

monday-mingle-vlog-meme

Thanks for joining me for Monday Mingle hosted by Jennifer from www.EightyMPHMom.com. Each week three different questions are posted. and we answer by blogging or vlogging. Come link up with us and join the fun!

This week’s questions are:

1. What’s the most exciting event, campaign (or something else) with your blog recently?

2. Do you ever get blogger burnout? How do you get over it?

3. Fill in the blank: “_____ is a staple in my winter wardrobe.”

My answers:

1. Nothing really. I am just starting this blog so there isn’t a whole lot of excitement going on.

2. Kind of. It’s not that I’m burnout on the actual blogging but more that I get burnout trying to come up with something to blog about. I usually take a few days to step away from it and then come back. Sometimes I find inspiration from other posts.

3. Fuzzy socks! My feet get very cold in the winter so I love my fuzzy socks.
