Rereading

Musing Mondays is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading.

This week’s musing — courtesy of http://drpepperdiva.wordpress.com – asks…

Have you ever reread a book and found that your opinion changed?

Yes. I’ve reread several actually. One that comes to mind is the Harry Potter series. I started them when they first came out and I just couldn’t get into it. A few years later, I read them again and I found that I really enjoyed them.

Sunday Summary – August 19

The Sunday Summary is a weekly event where we share with you a recap of all of our posts from the previous week, give you a glimpse at what you have to look forward to in the coming week, and show off the books we received through “Stacking the Shelves”.

It is inspired by Book Twirps. Mine will be a little bit different as I am not just a book blogger. I used to participate in Showcase Sunday but after finding Sunday Summary, I found I liked it better because I could combine my book finds with my weekly recap.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser…Big Sky Country by Linda Lael Miller

You can stick it all where the sun never shines, old man, Slade thought angrily. He’d never expected to-or wanted-to inherit a damn thing from John Camody-bad enough that he’d gotten the bastard’s looks, his dark hair, lean and muscular build, and blue eyes-and it galled him that Maggie, his mother’s friend, would be a party to wasting his time like this.

Mistress, Inc.

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

What I’m reading:

Mistress, Inc. by Niobia Bryant

Mistress, Inc.

From the back cover:

From the author of Mistress No More comes a sexy, exciting novel about an ex-mistress who’s doing her best to give up her bad-girl ways…

When Jessa Bell revealed she was having an affair with one of her best friends’ husbands, no one would have predicted she’d soon be playing the part of the reformed mistress–least of all Jessa. But her experience–and ensuing remorse–has landed her on all the national talk shows and scored her a major book deal. Now that she’s pregnant with her ex-lover’s baby, Jessa’s determined to cash in on all the attention. Trouble is, she isn’t feeling much genuine regret.

Shunned by her former friends, Jessa is still being propositioned by married men–and decides to start a business to help wives catch their cheating husbands. But when more secrets about her past are exposed, it’s going to be tough for her to stay on the straight and narrow–even if it spells disaster for her future…

Book Blog Attraction

Musing Mondays is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading.

This week’s musing, courtesy of http://readbookswritepoetry.blogspot.in, asks:

What attracts you to a book blog? What puts you off in a book blog? Do you share personal stuff on your book blog?

Why, the books of course! :)

In all seriousness though, it’s a number of things. I’m a visual person so blog design is biggie with me. In keeping with visual, I also really like those who do vlogs. I think it makes it more personal because I can actually see and hear from the person behind the writing. I also like those that do things besides reviews. Don’t get me wrong, I love the reviews, but if that’s all there is, I find myself skipping over it at times because the books don’t always appeal to me.

As for turn offs, like I said, pure reviews will find me skipping it over from time to time. I also don’t like those that hardly ever post. I know life happens and I’m not expecting daily posts, but if it’s been a month since the last post, I will most likely unsubscribe. I also don’t like those that post a bazillion times a day. I follow several blogs and it’s very time-consuming to keep up with everything. Therefore, if you post 10+ times daily, you’ve lost a follower.

As for personal posts, I actually quite like them. It’s a peek at what they’re like outside of the blogosphere. It makes me feel like I know the person better.

My teaser…Deceived by Stephanie Nelson

The blonde sitting across from him didn’t seem to notice he wasn’t listening to a word she said. Lowering my gaze, I headed towards an empty booth by the window. Since our “field trip” I hadn’t seen him and wasn’t sure how to be around him. The tension between us confused and scared me.
