About my week…

It’s a new year! Time for new beginnings and a fresh start.

This year, I have made goals instead of resolutions. By calling them goals, I know it’s something I need to work for in order to score. You can view them here.

Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to get back to business. Now is the time for cleaning and organizing.

Progress on my goals…

  • Quit smoking-I set my quit date for Sunday, January 8, 2012. I’ve been taking my medicine and I went to my doctor for refills yesterday. She also gave me some pamplets to read.
  • Lose weight-I joined SparkPeoople. I’ve been tracking my nutrition and fitness. I exercised Monday and Tuesday.
  • Eat better-I’ve been tracking my nutrition. I’ve been trying to drink water and drink less soda. I’m also eating three meals a day including breakfast. I’m watching my portion sizes as I eat.
  • Exercise-I’ve been tracking my fitness. I exercised Monday and Tuesday.  I overdid it Tuesday so I’ve been letting my body heal so I’ll be ready to hit it again next week.
  • Find new customers-I haven’t done a whole with that this week. I’ve networked using social media but that’s about it.
  • Make Unit Leader with AVON-I haven’t done a whole lot with this either. I have a couple of leads I need to follow-up on.
  • Offer better customer service-This is  a biggie for me. Sometimes I just don’t give the best customer service. I’m working on it though. I’ve sent thank-you e-cards to those that have ordered online. I’ll be following those up with a hand-written note. I’ll also be sending hand-written thank-you notes to my offline customers.
  • Follow-up-This is another biggie for me. If I don’t forget, I don’t want to follow-up because I’m aftaid they will say no. I need to remember that it’s nothing personal. They’re saying no the product and not me. I also need to remember that no doesn’t always mean not ever. It just means not at this time.
  • Make President’s Club with AVON-I’ve got to sell at least $10,100 from one year to the next (C-8’11-C-7’12). I’m about $3523 away right now. I don’t think I will make it this time but I’m determined to make it next time (C-8’12-C-7’13). I’m working on finding new customers and selling my butt off.

Theme for 2012

Over the course of the last two years I’ve noticed several people choosing theme(s) for the year. I thought this was a great idea so I decided to start doing it myself. Last year my theme was “No objection in 2011″. I practiced not objecting to what path my life went down. There are just some things you can’t control and there is no sense worrying about it. I’m not saying it was easy and I’m still working on it but I have gotten better and that’s all I can do.

This year my theme is “Taking care of myself in 2012″. I have really neglected myself both physically and emotionally in the last few years. Not anymore. I’ve come to realize that if you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will. Not to mention, if you don’t take care of yourself you won’t be around to enjoy your life. This year I’m determined to lose weight, quit smoking, eat better, exercise and to save money. If I plan on sticking around, I need to live a healthier lifestyle.

Do you choose a theme? I would love to hear about it!

Closing Up Shop

Welcome to this week’s Friday 5! The Friday 5 is hosted by scrivener from www.f.riday5.com. Each week we gather to answer five questions about a topic. Come join the fun!

This week’s topic is: Closing

1. What business establishment’s recent closing was the most disappointing for you?

The local Curves closing was very disappointing for me. It was a great place for women to work-out with being harassed by others.

2. At what place of business or service are you most likely to be the day’s last customer out the door?

I would have to go with Bath & Body Works. I could stay in there for hours smelling the different scents and trying to decide what to buy.

3. What place of business or service seems to be closed at times inconvenient to you?

I could name quite a few. I live in a small town where it seems if everything closes at dark.

4. Where in the real world (not online) will you most likely spend your last 2011 money?

Wherever we decide to go on New Year‘s Eve.

5. What business or service has been the biggest blessing to you because it is always open?

Wal-Mart and the Exxon station. You never know when you’ll have to run out in the middle of the night.

Resolutions

As the year comes to a close, we all start thinking about what we want to accomplish in the next year. We make our resolutions and toast in the new year. Then come March, if we make it that long,  they are long forgotten.

That’s why I like to make goals instead. In order to meet these goals, I know I have to make a plan and take action.

This year I am determined to accomplish my goals. I am making a plan and I will see it through.

Here are just a few of my goals for 2012:

  • Quit smoking
  • Lose weight (and keep it off)
  • Eat better
  • Exercise
  • Save money
  • Find new customers
  • Make Unit Leader with Avon
  • Offer better customer service
  • Follow-up (I am very bad in this area)
  • Make President’s Club with Avon

What about you? What are your goals for next year?

Christmas Cleanup

Tackle It Tuesday

Thanks for joining me for Tuesday Tackle hosted by www.5minutesformom.com. Each week we gather to discuss a problem that needs to be tackled. Come link up with us and join the fun!

This week I’m working on cleaning up from Christmas. I have paper, boxes, bags, etc. that need to be disposed of. I have leftovers that need to be distributed. I also have the regular cleanup to do such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, etc. from where everyone was in. I hope to get it all done by this weekend so I can enjoy my New Year‘s.

What about you? What are you working on this week?
